The past couple week have been crazy.

We got to go to the Pipeline Pro one day and that was fun to watch them surf. Its always fun to watch people surf at pipeline cause its such a close break to the shore.

A much needed AMAZING girls night for Tawny's birthday, dinner, pedis and a movie. love these girls. will miss them so too much.

Last Wed. our beach day started like this. At first I thought she was having a melt down, but come on, she always LOVES the beach. After awhile I knew something was wrong. I took her home, and we cuddled and watched movies the rest of the day.

After 2 nights of literally no sleep, being lethargic, and a constant high fever that wouldnt break I finally took her to the dr.

Dr visit #1.. so sad. The Dr. told me everything was ok.. just let it ride out and she would probably be ok in a few days. Poor little thing :(

A couple days later she was still feverish, and she was walking hunched over for the past 5 days (I thought it was because she had fever body aches) but then finally I knew something wasnt right. I knew that wasnt normal, she cried every time I touched anywhere around her head, and wouldnt move her neck. Sunday morning I woke up and we took her to the ER in honolulu. I was so scared she had meningitis. She had every symptom of meningitis except throwing up. I was a wreck. Its hard to see your kid in so much pain, and not be. When we were driving there an overwhelming feeling of comfort swept over me and I knew everything would be ok.

When we got there they ruled out meningitis because she could look down, but wouldnt look up or to the sides. Phew. But then they said they need to make sure there was nothing broken in her neck, no tumors, or abscess's

Her "diaper" arm so she wouldnt pull out her IV. She was such a champ the whole day. She cried when they pricked her and put her IV on but she was so brave and didnt freak out like I thought she would.

After 2 unsuccesful XRAYS they did a CAT Scan and found she had fluid between her spinal cord and throat, and the tissue was infected. (or something like that?) its hard to explain. They have no idea how she got it, it was a fluke thing, they said it could be from hitting her head or just getting sick and thats where the infection went. so weird. We are so lucky we found out before it spread to her brain or anywhere else.

She was so brave, we have been trying to take it easy since she was back. After she got antibiotics in her she perked up pretty fast, within an hour she was a little happier and today she is back to her normal "I DO IT!", spunky, happy self.

When we got home from the hospital I told her to sleep tight, and she said "OK, We'll go to the beach in the morning?" and I told her no, and that she was sick. and she replied "OK!! We'll go to the beach in the morning!!" Poor girl has been going crazy cooped up in our tiny appt for the past week!

I love my baby girl. So so glad she is back to her happy self.

We need some sunshine tomorrow, we miss the beach and are going a little crazy!

P.S.

Has anyone watched this new tv series "The River" on ABC? I watched a little bit of it, I cant tell if its gonna be good. BUT does that "river" look familiar to anyone? It supposedly takes place in the amazon. Remember that river Capri and I always paddle board up? We saw them filming this show there awhile back, we got to see the boat and the dock which Capri was so excited about. Movies are filmed in Hawaii all the time, and usually I dont care.. but this is our little spot.. no tourists, no people. just me and Capri. So I guess I am excited that someone else appreciated its beauty! Its always cool to see where they film things and then how they transform, edit, and can take you to a whole other time or place.

85 days

We have 85 days left on our little island. Its insane. I know 85 days seems like a lot in paradise, but its our home, and thats not that many days when you look at it like that. This is the longest (by far) Paul and I have ever lived anywhere together. I always take a lot of pictures but ever since we have been back from Christmas I'm making an extra effort. So, its gonna be picture overload until we leave. sorry.

This semester is heaven compared to last. Last semester was so hard, we never saw Paul. He was usually gone from 8am-11pm except for Saturdays. intense huh? so proud of him though. Even though Paul is gone a lot now, I feel like compared to last semester we get to see him a lot, and I am super grateful for that. We missed him so its been nice getting to spend time with him. Capri has been in heaven having her daddy around!

Today we went to Lanikai in Kailua. It is a gorgeous beach! Seriously. Bright teal water, white sand.. looks more like the Caribbean. It was gorgeous.

{Stephs in-laws were staying at Turtle Bay this week so we got to go use their pools and play tourist a few times, the girls LOVED the slide. They would run up and go down by themselves over and over!}

{Since we didnt get to go paddle boarding in December, cause we were in Utah, I took Capri on a little date, we got "pinkalicious" snow cones, and went paddle boarding up Haleiwa River and watched the sunset. love my little explorer.}

p.s. my friend camilla told us about this book called pinkalicous.. if you havent heard of it and you have a little girl you should get it! Capri is obsessed! its a super cute book!

This girl has turned into an "I DO IT" freak. seriously. that is her favorite phrase. like most 2 year olds, she has to do everything herself. If i help her in any way she has to walk back to the beginning and do it all herself. I lose my patience more frequently these days! who wouldn't, when we are late, and it is taking her 20 minutes+ to put on a shirt all by herself? but at the same time this age is so much fun! I think 2 will always be my favorite, but who knows? She is a stinker sometimes but she is definitely a cutie.

Even though I wasn't ready to leave utah, I have to say, it is nice to be home. I forgot how much I missed the ocean, the bike path and our home! We have been non-stop since we have been home and it has been so much fun!

We had so much fun in Utah, I didnt want it to end. Capri had a blast, Paul got to relax.. he needed it. Last semester was hard... and I enjoyed every second. Usually I am ready to go home but this time I didn't want to leave. It was so nice to be around family.

Christmas EVE

Every year my mom does "Grandma gifts", She thinks of something that fits us for the year and make a funny gift out of it. Paul always tries to grow facial hair and he cant.. and gets bummed..so his gift was mustaches.

I got a check from "reality" (cause lets be honest, i'm going to need it.) and a beach sticker.. so I dont get depressed when we move away from my island.

Christmas morning! This year was so much fun with Capri, this is the first year she understood Christmas, it was the cutest thing ever.

We got to see all of Pauls family which was so cool, I need to get pics from denise.. all i have is iphone pics, one night we rode the trax up with christian, matt and brooke+kids, and robert and denise, and went and saw the lights and got to do a sleigh ride. It was fun spending so much time with the family! We have missed everyone!

We started our day like any other day, by doing this.. Except on this day we had a lot of sun and a gorgeous rainbow!

Even though it is freezing, I'm actually loving being cold for a few weeks!

Capri of course had to go on the 4 wheeler until her little nose was way too cold!

The first few days of being here we shopped from 10am till 2am and were doing this sub for santa, we were all running around like crazy people. Seriously. I caught myself talking to myself more then usual.

My mom is amazing. Seriously! She does this every year, but this year was big. Our house was packed with presents and over 40 families got an amazing Christmas this year because of all of her hard work! (look at all those little lady elfs!) it was so cool how many people donated! And gave their time to help! My mom said all the families were so grateful and there were so many tears shed!

This guy got here finally after surviving finals.

We have been literally stuffing our faces with amazing food. I will probably be a little chubbier and whiter next time I go to the beach :)

Capri has loved all the constant attention.

And getting spoiled everyday. Grandma let her open a present a day until Christmas! Have I ever told you she is amazing?

It snowed one night for us.. But I'm greedy and I want more!

I made this painting for my mom. It's my great grandpa's hands (capris great great grandpa), my moms hands, mine and capris. 5 generations of hands, I've been wanting to get this picture forever and I'm so grateful I did

This week my great grandpa passed away. I'm so happy for him, he was so ready and missed my great grandma so much. His funeral was amazing and I loved hearing all the stories about him. He was an amazing man and left such an amazing legacy. I'm so grateful I got to be there for his funeral. We will miss him, but know he is so happy to be with his love.

Our trip has been perfect. Christmas was perfect, I have missed our families so much! I'm so glad we got to see our families on Christmas, and be here. I wish I had one more month before we have to go back! I asked Capri if she wanted to go back to hawaii or stay at papa's house and she said "papas" she is gonna miss them!!

The Pomegranate Trick

Pomegranates are my favorite fruit and my favorite treat to get in my stocking! But.. I HATE peeling/de-seeding them. I always stain my clothes/countertop/floor/hands/etc. and make a huge mess so I don't eat them as often as I would like to. Linds told me about this trick the other day, I went to Costco and got some today. I was so excited to try it out! It worked amazingly! I'm enjoying my pomegranate as we speak.. And I don't even have one stain on my clothes.. Or anywhere!

The Pomegranate Trick
1.Choose a pomegranate and fill a big bowl (probably not a white one) with water.

2.Slice the top of your pomegranate open, then UNDER the water, peel and de-seed your pomegranate. De-seeding it under the water will prevent juice from flying everywhere. The seeds will sink and the rest will float. Amazing huh?

3. Skim the top to get all the "extras" out of the bowl. There are a lot of handy things you could use for this.. I used a spoon. After all the "extras" are out of the bowl poor into a strainer and viola! Easy to clean up and so yummy!

We enjoyed Pauls Thanksgiving break so much. We have missed this guy. He has never been paddle boarding with us so we borrowed an extra board and took him up Kahana River! It was fun for me to see him, see Capri, loving it. and how much she enjoys it. And it was fun just to have him there. It was gorgeous as always, and Capri loves our little adventures and that she can "paddle paddle paddle" by herself.

The weather has been really cool lately. I have been loving it. In the day time it has been kind of chilly and at night is has been pretty cold.. and by cold I mean between 73-75 degrees. We have been taking the girls to the pool a lot (cause its heated) and they dont seem to mind the ocean if its not too windy.

Thanksgiving was awesome this year! We had a big pot luck with all traditional Thanksgiving food, there were 4 turkeys and so many yummy sides and desserts. we stuffed our faces until we couldnt breath. one thing led to another and we spent the rest of the evening planking. haha yeah, we thought we were pretty funny! I think Tawny and Linds took the award for best plank.. they had good style! This was all of our first times planking, and we dont know why we didnt start this weird hobby sooner.. its hours of fun and laughs. Its crazy this was my 4th Thanksgiving spent in Hawaii (Paul's 3rd)! 2 in Maui and 2 in Oahu.. no wonder this place feels so much like home!

Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallows

8 average size sweet potatoes
1 tbsp. vanilla
3-5 tbsp. sugar (to taste)
1/2 stick butter
1/4 tsp. cinnamon to taste
1/4 - 1 tsp. nutmeg to taste
1/4 c. orange juice to taste
Marshmallows (lg. or miniature)
Cinnamon sugar (opt.)

Boil (or bake) sweet potatoes until done. Remove peeling from HOT POTATOES and mash well, removing all strings. Add all ingredients but marshmallows and cinnamon sugar; mix well. Spray or grease lightly Pyrex or Corning dish. Put a layer of potatoes, layer of marshmallows until filled. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar for added flavor. Bake about 350 degrees until HOT. Remove from oven and put marshmallows on top. Place again in oven to brown lightly. Serves 10 to 12.You may add 1 cup scalded homogenized milk to potato mixture.
Orange extract may be used instead of orange juice. It is stronger in taste so add carefully to taste.

Tonight Capri and I were driving to drop off some food for paul at school and we were being silly and I asked her "are we silly girls?" she responded "yeah! We gonna be best friends forever (as she throws her hands up in the air in the most excited voice)". So cute, she makes me feel so good!

A couple of days ago I was laying on the couch reading and she walked up to me and stroked my face so gently and looked at me with her bright blue eyes and said in the softest voice "we gonna be best friends forever"

She melts my heart, seriously, i am lucky. I hope she remembers this "BFF" stuff in 13 years.. I'm gonna need it. I love my little bestie

Ps. She LOVES fox and the hound, and thats where she learned this "best friends forever" phrase

"coproach"

Confession. There has been a dead cockroach under our sink for weeks. Every morning and nap Capri wakes up so excited to see it, she opens the cupboard and says "mommy! Did you see it?! The coproach is gonna getch you!" She feels the need to show her friends when they come over too. I know it's gross I haven't cleaned it up, but how can I when she gets so excited to see that poor dead "coproach"? Have I lost my mind?

Capri talk

Ever since Capri turned 2 I have been a little bit on the emotional side. I just really can't believe she is so big now. I just feel like my baby is gone, 2 is so fun though, my favorite so far! she has been saying the funniest things lately and is so animated! She loves to sing and makes up her own little songs all day (just like me when I was little).

We were reading a book with a cheetah in it and she told me "yeah, cheetah, cheetahs run fast!"

Every night when she goes to bed, like any kid, she tries to say/do anything and everything to get out of bed. She always tells me "mommy, pretty eyes pretty .. other ones eyes, pretty hair, pretty nose". She knows this trick works and I will lay by her!

Last night I forgot about prayers and she yelled " mommy mommy! PRAYERS!" Her prayers get cuter every day, after she prays for everyone she usually prays for the mommy turtle, daddy turtle and the baby turtle.

Whenever she doesn't agree with Paul she yells "BABE! (and then tells him her mind)"

I love my little bestie. I love my job.

PS. I took her to see "Puss in Boots" today and she loved every minute of it! I couldnt believe she sat through the a whole movie. See what I mean? She's not a little babe anymore.

Halloween

Since April I have been so excited for Halloween! I have been counting down the days and Im sad its gone! Capri is at such a fun age, this year Halloween was not a let down. Halloween in Hawaii is my favorite! We got to do my favorite.. THE HAUNTED LAGOON at the PCC! It was so fun.. scary.. and I was drenched by the end! Paul loves it too he says its his "favorite haunted house". Of course riding in a boat and having monsters jump out of the water is going to be fun!

Napali Coast, Kauai

Paul and Dagan got to hike the Napali Coast in Kauai, Im way excited he got to do this man trip, and do all this man stuff like sleeping in a tent, purifying his own water, you know? man stuff. Anyways props to Dagen for taking pics! Those of you that have never heard of the Napali Coast it is said to be one of the most beautiful coasts in the world, and you can only see it by foot, boat or helicopter. There are no roads. Its 11 miles to a beautiful beach that you camp at.. Paul actually met REAL legit hippies that live there all the time. He said they were singing Christina Aguilera and dancing, were dirty and smelly, and way wasted. How they get all that alcohol (or anything they need) 11 miles in, and as often as they do, is beyond me. it would be interesting to see this little colony of hippies that settled in there in the 70's! Anyways he said he had a way good time, he was way tired when he was done and he is glad he got to do it! Im way glad he got to go too, what a cool experience!

I was going through all my videos today cause our computer is out of space, and out of the millions of videos and pictures I took (yes, I will admit I get a little camera happy 99.9% of the time) These are some of my favs of Capri over the past 2 years!

First minutes with her daddy after 26 hours of labor.. 2 unsuccessful epidurals, Paul passing out, and Capri finally getting vacuumed out! Worth it.

Our first appt in Hawaii.. so little.. 11 months here..and yes this appt is a design disaster.. we called it the pee house.

I think I love this one cause this short 30 seconds sums her up! This is in Kauai, we loved having this deck and spent tons of time playing this game!

This little girl turned 2 Friday!! We took her to do all of her favorites and she had enough junk food to last all year! She has definitely hit the terrible two's.. her melt downs are hilarious and exhausting and then the next minute I just cant imagine that she could do/say something cuter! So its a really fun stage and a hard stage all at once. She is my little best friend, and I love that we get to hang out all day together! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET BABY GIRL! Can you believe its been 2 years? I cant... its sad how fast she is growing up!

I am stoked.

Every day Paul reminds me we have 6 months left here {tear} which makes me sad to think about. so so sad. I cant think about it or I start to cry, and poor Paul has to listen to me whine/cry about all the millions of reason I dont want to leave this place. so we just dont talk about it anymore. but for now... I am stoked! Last week I surfed EVERY day (except sunday), Paul has tons of homework, so while Capri naps, Paul does homework and I surf! What a nice husband. It seriously makes me giddy to know what I get to do tomorrow afternoon. And because Paul is so busy its SO nice to have a break, even if its just for an hour! It also help that I have the coolest girls/people as friends here. I have never felt more at home anywhere in my whole entire life, I have never felt so content. So I guess my point is, I need to stop thinking about leaving and just enjoy it and hope we can come back one day.

Our 4th Anniversary

Paul had school and work the day of our anniversary so we celebrated a few days later. He planned a morning date, we got Foodland donuts for breakfast. (my fav) Chocolate with sprinkles. I usually cant go to foodland without eating one of these! We went to Waimea just the two of us, relaxed on the beach, jumped off the rock a few times, and played in the waves together!
When we got home, he watched Capri while I went and surfed (so cool of him).
Then as a family we went and got our favorite snow cones @Matsumotos and watched the sunset together. Perfect day, seriously, all of my favorite things.. love my hubby.. this year will be hard to beat

Not that I didnt know this before, it just reconfirms my feelings. I went and surfed by myself today while Capri was taking a nap. Loved my alone time. So stoked to have fall waves and be home!

PS. Props to my hubby, he is a machine, he is taking a zillion credits and working, and is so busy trying to juggle all of it. We miss seeing him around.. So excited for the weekend to get some good family time in! Oh yeah, and did I mention we have been married for 4 years now?! it doesnt feel like we have been married that long, so crazy!

I dont get homesick very often. Usually I am more then grateful to live where I live with my 2 favorite people, but today was a homesick day. for both my homes.

I miss our little town of laie. I miss my friends in oahu (we havent been around friends ALL summer), i miss capri having friends, i miss having people to talk to in the day time, i miss going to the beach with our friends, i miss yoga, i miss the north shore, i miss the running path so much, i miss the yogurt bus, i miss my routine there more then anything and i think Capri does too.

Then another part of me misses utah. Im craving fall, i miss fam and friends there. I miss cafe rio... what I would have done for cafe rio today.. i even googled pictures of the salad and showed them to paul. Thats pretty much it. fall, family, friends, and cafe rio :)

one more week on this beautiful island... then home... :)

We have enjoyed being in Kauai so much. i am falling in love with this island. which is so bad. and Paul, i think its safe to say he is in love. he has turned into a go-getter! we have been on the go non stop and he wants to do it all while we are here, which I am very very happy about! It has been hard to focus on work which has been really nice for Capri and I. We have LOVED every extra minute we get with Paul, it has been so fun spending so much time with him! I feel like 99% of my pictures are of us at the beach so here are some random pics of our life on "da island" that dont have to do with the beach.

{babygirl fell and hit her head on the bed. so so sad! Her hair was covered in blood, but we super glued it and she was back to her happy self in no time! It did scare us for a minute though, no one likes to see their baby in pain, even if it is just for a minute}

this place is amazing. its seriously so gorgeous, it is the biggest rope swing I have ever done and the falls are so pretty, with an amazing big swimming hole! we hope to spend a few more days here before we go home to Oahu. {After I wrote this post we tried going back a couple days later and Kipu falls is closed forever. so sad. there are huge fences blocking the path... its so sad a perfect little gem like this it closed to everyone, sad sad day for the locals of kauai}

This was our second time doing these this week, its like a free seven peaks haha.. anyways you drive up a dirt road forever, so you are in the middle of the jungle, and float down this river and there are all these tubes that go under the road that are dark and scary.. kind of like that slide at seven peaks? haha

meags and mathis came to Kauai to visit us for the week. so fun!

After missing our first flight, flying standby on the next, we made it. This is our second time to this island and its gonna be a fun change. When we first got here, Im not gonna lie I was bummed.. the biggest reason was other wives were supposed to be here but werent= no friends to play with and getting lonely/bored, our place is so nice.. but so loud. south swells are big right now=bad/dangerous beaches for capri or driving forever to get to a good beach for her, and I was just thinking "was this a good idea? was it worth leaving everything/friends? civilization? movie theaters? malls?" The first day after we got here we found this river next to the beach so Capri could play in the water and we wouldnt have to worry!

Yes, we did swim out to this little island and yes, i did pretend like i was the king of the island.

The next day we went on a walk right by our house, walked down this path..

..and found this gem. and from that moment on, I knew we were gonna have the best time.

there is a little inlet blocking the waves making it perfect for Capri to swim in.. but still fun for me and Paul to go get pummled right next to it! (and duh. good surf/boogie boarding/body surfing if the swell continues)

22 months

Capri has changed a ton in the past couple months!! She is such a big girl now and it makes me sad to watch her grow up so fast. She is at the funnest age! She cracks me up! She talks a lot.. she never stops.. Paul says maybe our next kid will be more like him :) haha. She surprises me everyday by a new sentence she puts together.

{PS I know this is a lot, and a lot of pics.. boring mom stuff. feel free to skip this one ;) }

Here are some things I wanna remember:

She knows some of her colors, she brings me objects and tells me "blue" or "orange" ect. She knows blue, orange, red, pink, and green. The rest she isnt that consistent with. If i ask her what color something is she always will respond with pink.. of course haha. But if she is telling me, she usually gets it right. She always surprises me when she picks out all the green crayons and brings them to me and says "green". or points to a car and says "blue car".

She is a little pyro. She has this crazy fascination with fire. She talks about it all day! She says "oh hot fire! Dont touch it! Ouch! Hot fire!"

She asks me "mommy play with you?" all day if im not giving her attention. I cant say no to that.

EVERY time we go by the road she has to let me know "NO NO road.. cars no no road"

After doing anything fun, we will get in the car and she will say "fun swimming" or "fun swings" "fun beach".. ect. When Paul gets home she will tell him about her day and say the same things.. and other jibberish I have no idea what she is saying, but she knows and will chat his little ear off.

She loves to sing "akunamata" she usually just sings the last word of every sentence (hog, worries, days, free, philosiphy "fee", matata,) she loves to sing "everybody wants to be a cat, cause a cats the only one who knoooows where its at" over and over and over.

She can count to 10 with a little bit of help and always has to tell me how many cars there are, or friends there are, buckets, ect. and it always ends up being 5 no matter what. haha. "one two, free, free, four, five friends!"

Like most kids here age, she can use an IPad, Ipod, Iphone flawlessly and knows exactly where to go and what she wants. Paul is happy about this one :)

She loves to balance on anything and everything.. she calls them "chugga chuggas" and pretends to be a train the whole time she is on them

She is ALWAYS dancing or singing, she seriously never even walks straight cause she always has a little side dance going on, and she leads with her bum. hilarious.

She always says "I wanna do it"

She calls everything "cute". "cute gecko", "cute puppy", "cute shoes" ect. We were at the beach the other day and these 16 or 17 yr olds were playing the ukelele and she was dancing and showing off for them and then she came back to me and said "mommy cute boys". A small part of Pauls heart broke that day ha!

She loves to tease. And scream/high pitched laugh

LOVES going to sleep.. runs giddily to bed

She loves her stuffed animals and wants to hold all of them all at the same time and take them everywhere (which i dont let her)

She is tall for her age and has long long legs like her dads.

LOVES oreos, cheetoes, donuts, green beans, cucumbers, popcorn, and cheese.

She is a picky eater (like her dad).. aren't most toddlers?

LOVES the beach, baths, swings, and anything to do with water.

Just recently has become a good little swimmer

LOVES geckos. Every time she hears/sees one she makes sure I know about it.

She loves Puppies and is so gentle with them.

LOVES playing in trees and pretends to be a monkey while in the tree, and HUGS them all the time haha

She just started this phase where every car we pass she has to stop and hug it and she says "nice car" while im yelling at her saying "dont touch capri!" she does anyways... so clean cars end up having hand prints all over them.. woops.

She is for the most part a really happy happy girl, she does know how to throw a good tantrum though :)

South Shore Days

August has been a crazy month for us. Paul was managing Oahu, long story short.. they just decided it would be more beneficial to have the remainder of the guys that still wanted to work, go to different islands. so we are in Kauai now. Anyways here are some things we finished off with living down on the south shore.. I am so excited to be back on North Shore in the fall... South shore was definitely a good change of pace for a couple months (like having Target minutes away and Walmart right across the street), BUT i miss my quiet, little town with endless beaches.

We have been able to hang out with Paul a little more then usual...

ps. side note.. earlier that day I pulled Capris arm out of socket while trying to put her floaties on... those are sticky little buggers.. and yes, I felt so so bad! anyways we were at the beach with Amy, we called my friend Heather that was a nurse and she told us how to put it back in. I told Amy i couldnt (cause it would hurt her) so after youtubing it a couple of times, just for safe measure.. Amy put it her arm back in like a champ. she is a brave, capri was screaming in pain and there is no way I could have done that to my baby. so thanks to Amy, instantly she was a happy camper again and being her normal beach-loving self... as you can see!

Where is Paul?

Lately there hasnt been any pics of Paul on my blog, this summer has been kind of crazy! Paul and I havent got to see each other a whole lot! At the first of the summer Paul moved to the other side of the island to sell, he moved in with roomates and we figured I could just come visit and then we wouldnt have to pay "married rent". After going back and forth and being apart way too much, his roomates moved out and we moved in! I think we both realized its way too hard to be an hour away from each other but not ever get to see each other! And it was way too confusing for Capri to be living at one house half the week and the other house the other half. We have got to spend a little bit of time together and it has been so nice! Capri missed her daddy, and I missed my hubby! He has been working so hard and I am so grateful for all of his hard work... I feel guilty, i get to be a mom and play with Capri while he works so hard. He says he loves selling in Hawaii, its always a good temperature and the people are so nice! Last Sunday (his only day off) we went on a walk on the beach and found this beauty. Who knew a little rope could entertain us for so long?!

This is a pretty typical day for us. Its not abnormal to see Capri singing her heart out wherever we are... she sings everything, while dancing. All day. It makes me laugh, i love my babygirl.

K you all know how obsessed I am with dolphins, so you can imagine how bad I was freaking out today! We woke up bright and early and paddled out hoping to see some dolphins! We were there for 20 minutesish and no sign of any! I was getting bummed. We decided to wait and just chill and enjoy the beauty! We were just sitting there and this pack of 6 or 7 came up right next to us! After that they all started coming! We swam and paddled with about 60+ dolphins for 3 hours until they trickled away! It was amazing! No words can describe it! It was so surreal! Capri loved it, she loved watching them jump and play!! It was so cool to swim next to them, and that they were SO close, like 5 ft away! They are so playful and curious! It was fun that we could hear them talking to each other, and I loved the little babies! It was a dream.

We tried a new river but I cant remember the name? it was so different then what we are used to! It kind of looked like we were in Utah maybe? There were pine trees and other Utah looking trees, the water was glass, it was really pretty and so peaceful!

We went up Kahana River last weekend ! it was so beautiful, as always, and made for a fun day!

I am so glad Melissa is making me go paddle board lately, its always a pain to get my huge 10ft board out the door but once we are on the water Capri loves it and I love it! Melissa is such a cool girl and I am so glad I have a paddle buddy!

I took Capri to the beach today.. she was in heaven. she swam and while she was swimming she sung her little heart out. This made me so happy. I think she needs the ocean just as much as I do. I think my husband loves it just as much as we do. he is just scared to admit it... in fear we will stay here forever if he says it out loud. we love our home.

This is what I have done without my two babe's, its been hard, I have cried, but it has been really nice to spend time on me. I didnt realized how much I would appreciate a break! BUT i still miss them, and I am so excited to see Paul tomorrow!!! and Capri in 4 days, i can make it.

I have done a lot of this. alot. my poor belly is raw. my shoulders are sore, but I am in heaven, we have had waves in the summer and it has been so fun! I evengot to go for a few hours in the morning yesterday and a few hours last night... the boys were so tired at the end of the day!

I think we have ate at Kahuku Grill 5 times since they have been here.. they LOVE it haha. they are punks.. but i still love them

FIRST THINGS FIRST. i love this girl. After my hubby begging me and me saying no, and more begging, he convinced me to let him take Capri with him to Utah for his brothers wedding! I am not going until the week after.. so long story short. I am going to be husbandless for 6 days and CAPRILESS for 9 days. Yeah I am sure at first most of you moms are thinking, "what a nice break." But personally, I love my little beach buddy, I love having my little mini-me to play with and make me laugh all day. Seriously if you have depression medicine mail it to me. JK. but seriously so sad :( I cry thinking about not seeing her for 9 days. The longest I have gone is 1 night. I really dont know how I will do 9 days! ugh. and no hubby makes it worse. anyways thats my sob story. I love my little Capri. she is my bestie.

The zoo again, we are taking advantage of our season passes, Capri loves the zoo these days!

This weekend I ran my first half marathon.

I took FIRST in my age bracket! Im not trying to toot my own horn but I am really proud of myself. I have been training really hard for this and I pushed myself so hard in this race, there was tons of people there that I was competing against. I thought it would be cool to place but after looking at the times from last year I didnt think I had a chance, when I got home I looked at the results and was SO happy to see my name with a 1st next to it! I didnt think to stay cause I thought there was no way I won, so Im bummed I didnt get my awards and prizes. oh well. I dont think I wanna do this again for awhile, and Im gonna have to really think about doing a full marathon... i get way too sick after I run. When Im running I am fine, but the whole day after not so bueno. I am so glad all my hard work paid off, and I am glad its over :)

We go and "tickle" the grass while she screams in the cutest high pitched voice "tickle tickle tickle tickle" until all the leaves have shrunk! She gets so happy and excited which makes me happy! I decided I needed a trip to target today to remind me there is civilization out there. Capri has been doing so good at being potty trained she has only had a few accidents in the past few weeks! While we were in target Capri kept yelling "potty!! Pooh pooh stinky!" so I kept taking her to the bathroom and nothing. So annoying. After 3 times I was over it. I think she didn't like the big potty and the fact I was holding her and all up in her grill. We were standing in the checkout and she kept yelling and crying "pooh pooh" I kept just telling her to go in her underwear haha. She went a tiny bit, next stop, game stop. This is where the story gets good. I was talking to the cashier and I heard the people in line behind me laughing I kept ignoring it, finally I'm thinking is something wrong with me? I turn around and Capri had taken off her pants and POOPED! On the floor. Yep. I didn't have wipes. I was mortified to say the least, good thing most of it went on her skirt haha! I feel bad cause she tried to tell me, she felt bad, she kept saying "no no stinky pooh pooh underwear". Poor girl, my bad. We still had a fun day together, what's a little or a lot of poop right?
Wow, like I said, every day is an adventure with this girl.

After Lots of Rain...

....the sun finally came out! Boy, were we happy! I think all the kids and wives and people felt the same way. Poor little vacationers. I feel bad for them. Its weird what being stuck inside did to us. I was grumpy, Capri was grumpy and I think we were both going a little crazy. AND my patience was thin thin thin. Im still trying to recover. Paul says I need to "snap out of it"

Summer here has a way different feel then winter! In winter the energy on our side is so awesome cause of the waves and everyone is just stoked and people come from all over the world to stay for a few months to surf so our side is always buzzing! Now its flat and quiet and just feels different but I still like it! Now we have amazing snorkeling and paddle boarding! So.. I am going to enjoy the summer flatness until the waves come in again!

Grinding... I heard all this hype about Impossibles Pizza bus, its usually parked by sharks cove or sunset.. anyways we finally tried it.. not gonna lie, it was a let down.. but still fun to eat and play on the beach in the evening with my lovers

Capri loves these animals. She takes them everywhere, or at least she wants to, if I will let her. Every time we leave the house she gathers her snuggles, turtle, puppy, and lion. Then she walks 5 steps and screams "help!" Of course I end of carrying them to the destination. Whenever she is getting tired she says "night night. ba ba, turtle, lion, puppy, snuggles." She loves her bed, when its time for naps or bed time she gathers her friends and runs to her bed giddy.. its gonna be a sad day when I have to fight her to go to bed! I am in love with this stage she is in, every day she is learning new words and learning different things! Every day is an adventure with this little girl

Some random facts. Not all about Capri but most of them are.

Capri is 18 months. I have lion king memorized now. These days Paul relates everything to Nala (on lion king) or Lion King. Capri is potty trained {sigh of relief}. Paul is so busy with school these days. He has Tuesdays and Thursdays off. i love that. we are gospel doctrine teachers and it scares the crap out of me. Paul went a week without coke. thats a lot for him. It 100% feels like summer. Capri and I have been eating popcicles and doing summer type things. Capri looks like Paul, and does the exact same facial expressions, but is a mini me... she says hi and bye exactly like me.. she even calls paul baaaabe! now. She knows the colors blue, purple and pink, she loves singing monkey and the alligator song and now she sings "snapped that monk ra outta the tee." so cute i should post a video. she jabbers non stop. She has to say hi and bye to everyone in the store. she is full of kisses these days.

Our car rides usually go like this:

Paul and I went swimming with the dolphins at sea life park! super cool... but we were both WAY bummed we didnt bring capri. she would have loved it... duh.

Ps.. here is a fun fact.. Did you know Jack Johnson drives an old mini van? (at least thats the car Ive seen him driving in both times) How cool is that? I am almost 100% positive he could have any car he wants and he totally lives by his "use only what you really need" motto. love it. I have seen him twice now {he lives in north shore}, he is so humble and seriously is so chill in his mini van, flip flops, t-shirt and board shorts. What an awesome roll model for so many people. Im not a star struck person but I love people that turn their talents into something great and make a difference. What a cool person not because he is famous but because of what he stands for. Love this song.

I think it's safe to say I am addicted to frozen yogurt. When paul asks me where do you wanna go for dinner? I say "the yogurt bus" we have this yogurt bus by our house (kind like red mango.. Except out of a bus). I could eat there everyday. I love it. Anyways I decided I was spending to much money at the yogurt bus. So.. I bought this baby! It was $30ish? And worth every penny. I bought greek yogurt, which is way good for you, and a good source of protein, add a tsp of vanilla and 5-7 min later...viola! Heaven! And guilt free! So stoked on this.. I even had frozen yogurt for breakfast this morning :)

{1 cup= 130 calories, 23g protein and 9g of carbs... A perfect healthy treat yeah?}

This little girl is on potty training day 5! She has been going in the potty here and there for a couple months and has been throwing a fit every time i put on a diaper, or she just takes it off. I didnt want to potty train her yet, but after waking up to her, with her pants off, diaper off and poop in the corner (oh and did I mention she stepped in it? yep tracked it all over her room.) ... her telling me every time she is going "potty" or "stinky pooh pooh", and her taking off her pants and diaper, pulling her potty all the way out to the kitchen and going potty in front of me I decided it was time. I am not gonna lie, its hard and gross and its a huge pain, BUT i feel like she practically potty trained herself, and it will be worth it. I had a couple "proud parent moments" this week! We took her to walmart and costco (its not like on the mainland.. we drive and hour there and an hour back, plus shopping on top of it. its a long day) I put a diaper on her thinking I wouldnt worry about it today. I went to change her 4 hours after we had left the house, and her diaper was dry, i asked her to go potty in the cotsco potty and she did. What a sport. I have caught her a few times taking off her pants and going when I am not paying attention, being a mom is great, watching them turn into little people is priceless. sorry this might be boring to most of you haha who wants to read about potty training haha?

On to the fun stuff... Since Paul started school and work again this week we have been trying to stay busy! We went to Kavela Bay and paddled a few days ago. Beautiful! Then yesterday we went with Natalia, Brand, and little Kai and paddled out to Goat Island

For V-day I got Paul skydiving, he finally got to go! Pauls fam came and visited us, it was so fun having them here and Capri loved getting to spend time with them! I didnt get a lot of pics cause remember how I dropped my camera in the river? yeah me too. crappy. Anyways it just so happened Christian turned 18 while he was here so it worked out perfect for both of them to go together! It took me back to my 18th birthday.. all of my friends and I went skydiving it was such a fun birthday. So the point is, its really cool he got to do this for his 18th birthday! Everyone has to skydive once in their life right?

They both had perma-grins when they landed! They both kept saying that it didnt seem real. Christian had a videographer, when we watched his DVD the view look amazing! It was gorgeous!

We had so much fun watching them, and I would highly recommend this company if you wanna go skydiving in Hawaii. Its called Pacific Skydiving, they are 100% accident free... which helped me sleep the night before they went!

About a month ago on a beautiful warm day, my honey and I went on a date. We Paddle Boarded to this itsy bitsy island also known as China Man's Hat

The water was clear as glass and I was a happy happy girl

When we got to the itsy bitsy island, we left our boards..

Climbed the hat..

...we chilled and enjoyed the fact that it was just me and him on this tiny island. It was a perfect date. So beautiful, and it was so nice to have a fun day with my hubby and not worry about the munchkin

Which leads me to this... I loved it so much, a few days ago, I decided to take Capri on her first paddle boarding adventure. It was just me and my Capri. We went up Kahana River. It was soooo beautiful! I felt like I was paddling up the amazon or something. Capri LOVED it she kept saying "pretty pretty!" and "water water!" and "pretty trees!" She just chilled on the front of the board, as soon as she noticed I was standing up she had to stand up! We went up as far as we could go, when we got back there were a bunch of fisherwomen fishing.. they saw Capri and started going crazy! They couldnt believe this little babygirl was just standing and surfing! They loved her! I love my babygirl! She is such a good friend to have adventures with!

Oh yeah and did I mention I dropped my camera in this river :(

PS. Yesterday was graduation. In Hawaii, at church, whenever someone leaves we sing the "Aloha Oe" song. It is such a pretty song, it made me so sad to see friends go, and to think that at this time next year we will most likely be leaving, I seriously cant think of it or I will cry, so Im not going to. But you should check that song out, I love it... and for those of you that have never been to church in Hawaii did you know that every time someone gets up to the pulpit they say "Aloha!" and the congregation says it back? yup they do. Love that.

Today I went surfing with the girls, I am loving our Tuesday surf days! Its so nice just to be out on the water! Doesnt get much better then that!

Surfed for a bit. It was clear. you could see the coral and the water was perfect, teal and gorgeous.

And we went to Castles... where it was too small for our liking... but oh so fun. It was clear, gorgeous and like always there were turtles playing in the waves all around us. The turtles and beautiful water make castles special.. the waves are never great but its a guaranteed fun time!

Saturday morning at 2:30 am we went and hiked Stairway to Heaven with Cole and Lindsey and one of her friends, it is pretty intense, but so cool! You climb these stairs/ladders the whole way up with huge cliffs on both sides of you! Its pretty gnarly but amazing! SO beautiful! Paul wasnt too stoked on the idea but as soon as we got to the top he was glad we did it ;) Its illegal to hike cause its dangerous, when we were coming down the police were on the freeway yelling at us in their mega phones, luckily we didnt get fined but a lot of people have lately. phew.

Im not gonna lie we woke both woke up pretty soar this morning! Ps. Thanks Christine for sleeping over with Capri!!! you are the best!

Tsunamis, Visitors, and big waves, Oh my!

This week was unique, fun, scary, amazing and busy. I guess the best way to tell you is to start from the beginning.

Thursday March 10, Matt Brooke (pauls sis) and Avail woke up bright and early at 3am Utah time to come see us. It felt like Christmas! I love Avail and I was so excited to play with her!!They were flying standby so after 4 airports, a shuttle from LBC to LAX and a lonnng flight to Hawaii they finally landed. About an hour before they landed my friend Marta called me and told me about the earthquake in Japan.. and told me about the tsunami warning ETA 3:00am. All the phone lines were jammed within the hour. I finally got a hold of them and told them to get over to this side ASAP (we only have a 2 lane road going into Laie, one way north, one way south.. RIGHT next to the ocean almost the entire time so I was worried about traffic. Anyways they had been up for 24 hours and weren't even phased by the situation thankfully :) They finally got here I sent them to bed and then we waited. One thing I love about Paul is that he doesn't ever worry. BUT in an instance like this I wanted him to worry! I wanted to be Mrs. Patty Preparedness and he wanted to just chill haha anyways I knew nothing too bad was going to happen, (our house could have had major flooding, losing water and power for awhile) but I couldn't sleep and with all the sirens going off my heart couldn't help but to beat a little faster. I love islands. I am infatuated by them. The thought of leaving my island makes me wanna cry and gives me a stomach ache. BUT this night I was slightly scared being trapped on my little island. Anyways.. it turned out ok, we didnt sleep but other then that we were very lucky especially since we werent prepared for the worst. Thank you to all for your thoughts, prayers, texts, emails, facebook messages, and phone calls! I felt so loved and I am lucky to have such amazing people in my life! My heart breaks for the people in Japan there are some people in our building that dont even know if their families are ok yet, so pray for the people of Japan.

On a lighter note.. we had SO much fun with Matt Brooke and Avail! I love the stage Avail is at right now, its the best. Its princessess and pretend.She is easy and good and she LOVED the beach! She is a natural :) She kept telling me she "is gonna live here when she gets big" so cute! We crammed in a lot when they were here and it was a blast, I was sad to see them leave! Capri LOVED having "T T" (Avail) here! Avail made her laugh and was so cute with her!

We hiked Maunawilis, I loved it, its such a beautiful hike with an amazing waterfall at the end! Avail was such a trooper! Its a long hike for little legs and she did the whole thing without complaining! But I think Brooke liked it the most out of everyone! ;)

This morning the surf report said it was 25-30 feet! For those of you that have no idea if that is big or not.. its BIG! HUGE! very very dangerous! I woke Paul up and told him we had to go watch it! So we went to Waimea, and there were a bunch of surfers and boogie boarders out there. It was so amazing, the ocean has so much power and energy. I love it. In these pics you cant really fathom how big it is but look at how little the people are compared to the wave.. 25-30 is triple overhead. Pretty intense.

I love my job

Since we have been back from Utah I feel like I havent stopped going for a minute! We have been so busy.. and by busy I mean beach, park, running, yoga, walks, driving, ect! Just the way I like it :) I feel like every week Capri is growing up so fast, she says tons of words now, every one that knows her says she talks a lot! (I know you aren't surprised.. I talk a lot too haha) she jabbers non stop, but she also says a ton of real word. She loves saying names now, she can say most peoples names if I teach her, she says "money" now (dont ask me how she learned that? Paul?) ps. she has a quarter and is shoving it in an orange as we speak. p.s.s She LOVES orange peels, yup just the peel. She loves Justin Beiber "Baby" She sing ohhh and baby, she loves saying "waddle waddle" and waddling like a penguin, she is always singing a little tune that I cant understand its super cute, and lately she is ok just going and playing in her room forever. Even better I feel like she understands most everything I tell her now. She knows what she wants and is an expert at tantrums now. I was at Walmart (we drive an hour to Walmart) and we had just done our 7 hour flight the day before. She was throwing such a big tantrum, a sweet lady that worked there pushed my cart while I got the essentials and held my arching back, screaming toddler. I was mortified that I was THAT person that doesnt know how to control their kid in the store. Happens to the best of us right? Normally she isnt that bad but I think she was done sitting in a plane, car seat, shopping cart ect., and yes my sweet little munchkin does throw tantrums hahah

Sorry all of my posts are about the beach and Capri, but thats pretty much our lives right now... I am having one of those weeks where I can't believe how lucky I am that I get to be a mom. Before I had Capri I always thought I would want to be a working mom, now I cant even imagine leaving her for more then a few hours. Paul has been really busy with school and tutoring but he has made an extra effort to spend time with us.. we got to go on a day date this week and it was amazing (Pictures coming soon). I love it here and I love this stage in our lives.. I know it has to change eventually but I dont want it to. So.. until then Im going to try and enjoy every minute of it and stay busy busy busy.

PS is anyone else as excited as me to see who the bachelor chooses next week?

1. Capri learned how to crawl out of her pack and play a couple weeks ago when we were in Utah, the first night being back home in hawaii I woke up to find two big bruises/gooseggs on her head. after reading a bunch of forums on the internet and contemplating if I wanted to fight her to stay in a bed, I decided to take the trek to Honolulu and by her a bed. When we were at Walmart she said "Dar da" I thought she was saying da da.. I turned around and saw she was pointing at Dora, then we walk over to the bed and she saw a Dora bed and said "Dar da". so of course I bought her the Dora one! When we finally got it all put together (she was sooo excited the whole time we were putting it together) she climbed on it before I could even push it against the wall, gave us kisses and didn't make a peep until morning! I think she thinks she is a big girl, 16 months going on 6!

2. My husband is so cute! He was standing there talking to me, eating his pizza and he looked so innocent and cute I couldn't help but to snap this pic!

3. I ate my favorite Sushi today. yup it's from foodland (the grocery store) and it is fresh, cheap, and oh so delicious. it spilled on my new white shirt.. I'm not mad.. it was delishhhh

4. I love sharks cove! Paul and I explored with the munchkin and found way cool sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and of course hermit crabs! And most of all I love that my munchkin is such a cuddle bug now! isn't she precious?

We just got back from Utah! We had such a good time, I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with Pauls fam, Grant and Aubrey got married and they are so cute together! We had tons of fun with both of our families and friends.. we were so busy and were on the go every minute trying to see as many people as we could! Capri didnt know what cold was until we got to utah now she says "cooooold!" (in a shivering voice) every time she went outside and its cold! haha too cute. She wasnt a fan of the snow, she cried most of the times she touched it.

Capri LOVES lin lin, she asks for him all day! She didnt sleep very well the whole trip and he got her to sleep most of the nights we were at my parents!

I know Paul was hoping I would go to Utah and it would "cure" my Hawaii addiction. But I think it only made it worse. The second I could see the island from the plane window I had perma-grin... I probably will for the next day or so haha. I think Capri was just as excited to be as home as I was! The second we landed she was yelling "pretty! pretty! da da! kennon! da da! pretty!" I am so happy to be back with Paul! he is at work right now but I cant wait to cuddle and watch a movie when he gets home! Home is where the hub is. Missed him too much!

This is my barbie from when I was little! I found it right after Capri was born and was so shocked at how much it looked like Paul! Capri found him in all the toys and calls him "Da Da"!
Looks like Im not the only one that thinks he looks like Paul! Its crazy to think I married my favorite man barbie hahahahah

PS. We miss Hawaii. We are ready to go home. I miss my Paul. A lot. I miss my beach, my sun, my island, my friends, running outside in beautiful weather, and my body misses yoga. I miss sleep. Capri misses being outside. She has been cranky pants, and bangs on the window screaming "out!" 2 days i can make it.

I took this pic of Capri about 15 minutes ago, and no joke she still is in the same exact position and has the same exact face. After a long night of her waking up a lot (I think she is major teething right now) and knowing we have a red-eye 12 hour plane/travel night (to UTAH) ahead of us I am worrying a little. I look like I got hit by a bus to say the least. We are both zombies today. Its pouring rain outside.. which is really nice since we wont have time for the beach today, but its 72 degrees and we are both freezing. Im wearing sweats, and a sweatshirt, and have goosebumps. Which leads me to my next worry. I am going to die? no really. What if I die cause I get so cold? I am scared.

On the bright side, if I do live, I am excited to see all my fam and friends

I was getting sick of my last post but these are the only pics I have taken since then. It is really feeling like home here. We are in such a fun schedule lately and I love all my friends out here. We have an awesome ward and I love being a couple minute walk to school, yoga, the grocery store, food, and having the beautiful temple in our backyard! I have been running 4-5 miles everyday and Paul has been watching Capri two days a week so I can go to Yoga (which is good for me but good for him to have alone time with the munchkin). It has been very sunny the past month so we have been to the beach almost every day with our friends or with Paul! Paul is loving school, he loves all his classes and he has met a lot of fun friends.

Hopefully I will get to see most of you in the little time we are there!

This pic cracks me up! She LOVES these stuffed animals. She always has to carry all of them at once (her baby, Lion, monkey, another monkey, kitty, and snuggles). so this cracks me up, on our morning run one day she just chilled with them for awhile and then one by one as it got hotter she threw them out of the stroller. She loves her Lion, she wakes up in the morning and I hear her saying RARRRR. Or she walks around the house saying "LION? LION?" And she is in love with monkeys. She wouldnt eat bananas and one day I got on the internet and showed her a lot of pics of monkeys eating bananas. Now she will eat them, although I do have to make monkey noises the whole time but she eats them.
